Hi,

I would like to ask, what is the way to use the Direct Search (or other similar package) to solve not a static optimization problem for, say f(x_1,x_2), but the dynamic one, say for f(x_1(t),x_2(t),t)?

I think there must be the way of adapting the algorithm for that.

Any ideas welcome.

Hello,

I am very new to maple. I am trying to determine x, y, z and the intersection the following tori:

((x * cosθ j+ y * sinθj -r)2 + (x * sinθj - y * cosθj -r)2 + z2 + a2 - b2 )2 - 4 * a2 * ((x * cosθ j+ y * sinθj -r)2 + z2) <= 0

for j = 1,2,3.

Hi!

How I can pass value directly from slider to expresion without executing whole worksheet?

Hi Experts,

Here is my File. I use the DirectSearch2 Library.

Searching the Minimum works fine. (800 sec on i7 PC)

But the Datafit runs endless.

I tried to make the fit with min SSE that works, but why does DataFit not succeed?

Thanks for answering.

Hi! so im working on the next problems now:

Show that dV/dt = -k * V^(2/3) given that k = 0.4836 and t is measured in minutes if the original volume of the capsule is 300 ml, how long will it take the capsule to lose half its volume?

Im doing this on maple right now and see you if guys can spot my problem or my syntax:

1. eq1 := diff(y(t), t) = -k*y(t)^(2/3)

2. dsolve(eq1, y(t)) which gives me an equation

3. dsolve({eq1, y(0...

What is the largest linear system that Maple can solve? You might be surprised to find out. In this article we present strategies for solving sparse linear systems over the rationals. An example implementation is provided, but first we present a bit of background. Sparse linear systems arise naturally from problems in mathematics, science, and engineering. Typically many quantities are related, but because of an underlying structure only a small subset of the elements appear in most equations. Consider networks, finite element models, structural analysis problems, and linear programming problems.
