I tought you might be using Linux because the file dialouges looked different in you tutorial to what I have.

That's how it looks like on my installation when I type the keys "f(x)/g(x)"

I have to migrate to Windows 11 and will post here if I can reproduce the direct_approach.

If we both use the same build

then the OS and/or the hardware play a role in GUI behaviour.

Nice tutorial! I have tried to reproduce g(x)/h(x) on Windows 10

but can't get it. Do you use Linux? I don't have bronze slider bars either.

inert was the first search term I tried. I also tried exact phrases "%+" and "%diff". The later might have worked in the online help system which is still offline.

I have learned in the meantime that "Linux GUI apps" that use X11 or Wayland windowing system can run under WSLg which is an extension for graphic applications.

The question is now wheather a graphic desktop UI is needed in addition and wheather Maple is compatible with this windowings systems. If not virtualbox or the like are left as options.

I did not noticed this yet. I tried x/x+1 and get

I have to make backspace and left arrow to finish the denominator. That's two steps backwards. Kind of a flowreversal.
I hope there will be an improvement for /.

I've read that WSL is more of a compatibility layer to run Linux binaries and WSL2 is a virtual machine with subset of Hyper-V (whatever that exactly is). There are other virtual machines that apprently do not rely on WSL.

Not sure if WSL is powerfull ennough to run a linux distribution (which one?)  that is powerfull ennough to run a desktop environement (is that needed and if yes, which one?).

Quite some combinations...

Did you try editing (more->edit) and deleting the link?

This GUI is a huge step. GUI design is a particularly thankless task. You cannot please everyone. If something doesn't work, there is immediate criticism. If it is done well, people wonder why it was so complicated and why it took so long.
I hope your pupils will welcome it already and don't expect smartphone perfection.

After all, I did not expect a new GUI and I am not forced to use it yet.

Nvidia Control Panel allows to set the graphics adapter. Testwise you could set Maple

to the internal adapter and see if that has an effect. I have not seen a performance degradation with internal graphics when using Maple.
