Alec, your last two links above do not work properly.  When you move the mouse over them, you get:

http://00002783/!x-usc:http://mapleadvisor.com/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/JsMathTest and http://00002783/!x-usc:http://mapleadvisor.com/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/JsMathTest1

It should be mapleadvisor.com/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/JsMathTest

and mapleadvisor.com/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/JsMathTest1

Alec, I agree with your comment about lifetime achievement.  Your contributions over the years have been extremely helpful and very valuable.  Keep it up.

Just testing, to see if it works:

delta := arccos(16/2537*86^(1/2)*59^(1/2))

I'm amazed.  I have been trying this for weeks, it did not work.  Now it does.

Thank you.  My confusion stems from doing everything that you outlined above, verbatim.  What I saw in the preview window was not correct.  I must have been trying to do this when the system was not working properly.  I will try it again in the future.

Read towards the end of this posting here.  It sounds exactly like your problem.

I can't explain why you get an error with your heading:

Document to test Maple document capabilities; there are keywords here even though this is a text section: how does one type in regular words in text?

Highlight the text above, then right click and select "Convert to Plain Text".  This seems to get rid of the "reserved word" error.  Why is comes up to begin with, I do not know.  I rarely use the GUI interface, except when I need some plotting functionality that I can not get with Classic.  Otherwise, I avoid it.  It gets in my way.  Good luck with the rest of your worksheet.  If I see something obvious (to me) I will let you know.

Depending on the type of problem you are trying to analyze, a dedicated FEM tool might be your best option.  Most of the commercial ones on the market today are tens of thousands of dollars.  There are student versions of some tools that you can download and use for evaluation purposes.  One that comes to mind is Maxwell SV from Ansoft.  This tool is for low frequency electro-magnetic designs.  There are open source FEM tools for 3D available as well, although the learning curve is steep.

Check out the FEM package at the Maple applications center, here.

You have to log on to be able to view and download it.

From my post above, it seems that the clock is off by 41 minutes. It could be that I am travelling close to the speed of light and time is slowing down.

Testing your statement about the Mapleprimes server clock.  When I click on the post button below, the current clock on my laptop is 11:17 p.m. exactly, syncronized to "time-a.nist.gov".

Try inserting your code as text, as I did above, or save your worksheet and upload it.  That way you will save us the trouble of having to type it in.

a).  I am lazy and I do not like to type if I do not have to.

b).  I make typing errors during transcription, and then spend time trying to figure out what I did wrong, instead of trying to figure out how to help you.

The answer to your original question is "maybe".  No CAS is perfect.  Sometimes you have to help them along.
