Mystery solved. I used integer matrix entries. if I just put one decimal point after one entry the results coming out as expected. Maybe in a future update that can be taken care of.

Take any non singular 3x3 matrix with numericals as matrix elements. In the solution panel (check mark) chose eigen values. Instead of getting a list of three numbers ( real or complex) the result is a lengthy arithmetic expression with numbers in it. The same happens on my PC in maple. If I use fsolve I get the desired result. Why is that not implemented in maple calculator?
