@Carl Love

Wow, that is also a nice option.
I need to think more in 'that' way. And besides, it can be done in so many ways, unbelievable.

Thanks for your last post.

I consider this as another learning moment.
Thanks for your patience and time, and clear explanations!

Best regards,
Frank

Carl,

thanks for your patience and answers.
I will have a look at method (3) another time.
But thanks for all your explanations. It helped me out a lot.

Frank

Cheers!

I just really need to look at it better! Sometimes I almost get hypnotized by it...but okay.

Anyway, thanks for explaining the 'list' of Method 2. It's running well now; and the most important thing: I understand it better!
And it was silly that I didn't see the difference between ` and ' in method (3)...now the procedure runs well.
I only can't get method 3 plotted. Is it because there is another command for that?
I use the same commandline to plot the procedure, as I do for the first two methods:
plot('modalmasspedestriansfail(height)',height=0..1);

Hi Carl,

First of all: I noticed that it was pretty late last night; I put in some weird  things in my sheet. Pure nonsense...

Today I started all over again, from the start.
So I filled in your methods and found out only the first method works for me. It gives me a correct plot.
When I started trying this in the beginning (my own thoughts about the method), what I did wrong was actually mixing method '(1)' and '(2)', which ended up not working.
I did know in what kind of direction I had to look/search, but too bad: it didn't work out without your help.

So thanks for clearing that up.

But for method '(2)': it doesn't give me a plot, like it does with method '(1)'. I don't understand why, cause it doesn't give any errors up front.

For method '(3)': I never seen this 'combination' of commands before. It gives me a delimiters-error, which is weird to me, cause I've matched all of them correctly (well, probably not otherwise it doesn't come up with that error!).
The internet doesnt't give me any answers about it.

I think it is important for me to know these methods, and I should memorize them.

PS. I hope the Enter work this time?!

I'll check your answer tomorrow(morning?).
Thanks a lot for your assistance so far !!

Sometimes...I just don't see the easy stuff.

I will post you my findings tomorrow.

Good night.

The method with 'making it a procedure as well' is not something I like, cause I only get it done by copy/paste the outcome of other formulas in it (see maple file attached, at the top).
Ofcourse I can also fill in the formul, without making a new one and then refering to it...but that's not what I want.
Maybe there is a way in which it can be done more easily? At least I don't know.

Now I only want to know how to do it with 'substitution'.
Like I said: when I do it with only one formula, I can do it, but when multiple formulas have to be substitued, then I get stuck. Then I get a parse-error.

I tried to expand your examples into my problem, but then I ended up getting errors.
So actually when it becomes a procedure containing multiple formulas, I get stuck.

Hello again,

I do get your point, which is totally clear to me.
As I started writing, I remembered I've dealt with it in the past (the global and local thing).
So thanks for reminding me about it!

About the answers:
I only managed to get the it done by 'unapply'.
But the other two options; I don't know how that works. Can you explain it to me?

What I've tried so far is in the .mw file.
