Thank you for your reply.

 I (only) use the classical interface (*.mws) and without too much pain
(which only needs some guessing which 'paragraph' stands for what)
you can create a style sheet through the menu bar 'styles' and then
save it as default.

I tried this: new classic worksheet: Format -> Styles -> Paragraph -> Font, Color = black, -> OK, entered stylename: blackonwhite, -> OK, under Style selected "blackonwhite", -> save as default "color.mws"

However the input, is still red. Version is Maple 13.  Any suggestions? Thank you for your help.
