is this too hard to do analytically?

z'' + z e^(-R^2)=0

Forget the last three posts; solve({b^2/a^2-2*b/a+2*b+1-2*a+a^2 > 0,a-b< 0}, {a}); I receive the following: Warning, solutions may have been lost
Or this: solve({b^2+4*a-4*b > 0, -a+b < 0}, [a, b])

won't work, d you know why?
