we were able to follow the ?Jupyter,MapleKernel,Configuring Maple help article to make Maple 2023 available in Jupyter Lab on Windows:

1. After verifying the installation with 

   jupyter kernelspec list 
   

2. We created a directory C:\jupyter-kernel-config in Windows Explorer
3. Then in a new Maple 2023 worksheet, we executed the command 

   Jupyter[GenerateKernelConfiguration]("C:\\jupyter-kernel-config")
   

4. Then in a jupyterlab terminal session, we ran 

   jupyter kernelspec install c:\jupyter-kernel-config\maple
   

5. Then we were able to create a new launcher in Jupyter Lab with the Maple 2023 kernel and run, for example, commands with colon-dashes 

   Student:-Calculus1:-Roots(cos(x));

We looked into this and had some success reproducing it. We will look into improvements to future versions of Maple. 

In the meantime, like @erik10 we also found that exiting Maple, restarting, and creating a new document/worksheet avoided the issue several times. Is that an acceptable workaround for now?

Maple's R&D team also reviewed your question.

Unfortunately, they feel that this just has the feel of an equation that does not have a closed-form algebraic solution.

They also felt that @mmcdara 's answer has a lot of good advice.

One other tip is to upload your maple worksheet instead of screenshots of it.
