I'm guessing that the images did not load for you, so you are seeing the ALT text for those images. For Maple expressions, this contains the plain text version of the expression.

I'm seeing the images fine, so I'm assuming this is due to your dial up connection. If you wait for the page to complete loading, you'll see the images as well.

I converted your reply to Gilbert's post into a Question. This makes it more likely that people will see the question and be able to help you out.

A note that I deleted the duplicate of this question that you posted. Please only post your question once. Asking the same question multiple times won't help get the question answered faster.

@acer Thanks for pointing out the inconsistency between the allowed tags and the editor, we'll fix that soon. And I'll add the tags to that help page as well.

@Alejandro Jakubi The problem is that the results are also displayed at http://search.maplesoft.com if we created a parallel site, users would be sent to view pages that are not meant for public display. We could alter the results within MaplePrimes, but search.maplesoft.com is the raw results from the Google Mini, and we have no way of altering the URLs it displays.

Just as in Old Primes, we filter the HTML on submission of content. This is both for security and to prevent people from breaking the layout of the site.

Here is a list of the tags that we allow on the site:

p,br,img,code,pre,em,a,cite,blockquote,ul,ol,li,dl,dt,dd,sub,maple,b,strong,u,i,span,table,tr,td,colgroup,font,tbody,form,input,button,object,param

All others will be stripped from your submission when you click submit (or preview)

Currently when the number of replies for a Post or Question are displayed, it only counts the "top-level" replies. Meaning, Answers or Comments on a Question, or Comments on a Post. So comments on Answers are not included in this total.

We have a plan to fix this in the near future. So this will be fixed soon.

MaplePrimes's search is powered by Maplesoft's Google Mini. Which is basically a Google server sitting in our Server racks. It indexes the pages by spidering the site, just like Google; so it includes all text including the text in the sidebar.

There isn't a way to tell the mini to ignore certain text, so unfortunately, this can't be fixed. However, a note that this should only be an issue for Posts and Questions that currently appear in the sidebar, so older items wont' be affected.

I tested searching for The Traveling Salesman's US Roadtrip and got these results. The desired post is the first result. True, there is a lot of noise in the result, but the desired page was the first one highlighted. So, I agree that this is a limitation, but it isn't stopping people from finding what they are looking for.

@badhri I have re-added the link to the worksheet. You can also download it by clicking here.

This post, and a number of others originally came from the Adoption Student Center which was a seperate forum that we ran underneath the Adoption Program for students. We migrated all of the threads from that forum into Primes when we launched new Primes.

A number of these posts reference a file, but new Primes doesn't support the method of attaching files that those posts used. I will be going manually through those posts and re-add the link to those files.

Thanks for letting us know. I've added Maple 14 and MapleSim 4 to the SCR form.

When you see a Question that has nothing but comments on it, these are Comments applied directly to the Question. If you convert a Comment into an Answer, it appears beneath the Comments, in the Answer section. This is why your Answer moved to the bottom of the page.

I went through that thread and converted and moved the remaining replies into the appropriate place, so the thread should be much more readable now. Answering your question: you can convert the Answer back into a Comment, but obviously fixing the rest of the thread is preferable. We plan to add the ability for high reputation users to be able to fix up threads, so doing this cleanup won't rely entirely on Maplesoft in the future.

Because of your pointing out that recent files were also missing, I went looking for the lost files again. And I was able to recover over 1000 files that previously were gone. This includes the image that you restored to the thread.

@pagan You are deinitely right. I think I will look into changing how we calculate the popular tags. I might change it to just include Posts and Questions from the last 4 months or so. That way we get a good measure of what has been popular recently on Primes, but not strongly influenced by the current topics on the site.
