Thanks for the suggestion. It worked by opening up an existing worksheet. ... go figure ?
Based on this, any ideas on why it won't open from its icon ?

Hello ?

Does anyone know the answer to this ?

As I said above, I went to its location on the hard drive and clicked on the icon there. I guess this is what you are talking about ?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

I am on Windows 7 64-bit. There were no error messages. I started up Task Manager, and monitored any activity (ie starting up a process) while clicking the icon, and there was none. In other words, no process even started.

I also tried starting it up by going to its location on my hard drive and clicking there. The same result (or lack of).

regards,
Andrew

OK Thanks !

OK Thanks !

Thanks.

I could not get my head around the RHS of the assignment to Q. For example, I looked in the user manual for specfunc and there are at best a couple of obscure references (it does not have its own page). I was likewise confused by the third parameter to subsindets (z->factorial(``(op(z)))).

Any further help appreciated.

thanks,
Andrew

Thanks, that's great. If I may push it a bit further . is it possible to expand that out (in the form that I originally had), and still retain the factorials ?

Ignore the second entry .... I had pinned the wrong item to the taskbar. As for the Portal issue, that is a mystery for the ages.

Now its gone from bad to worse. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it opened up once but then the next time I clicked on it, it did NOTHING.....WTF??

I checked Task Manager, and there were no Maple processes running. Furthermore, I have not changed any Java settings. For crying out loud, it was working just fine earlier today!

Andrew

I couldn't find one. Hence the question.

Well then the Maple 13 documentation is wrong, because it says I can cycle thru' open Maple windows using Alt-Shift-F6. It neither cycles thru' windows nor tabs. In short, IT DON'T WORK !
