Thanks, Do you just personally prefer the D operator ? I also noticed you didn't have any type constraints on the procedure arguments. Did you find doin that unnecessary ? thanks again v/r, Also a nifty idea using the mapping inside of the procedure to simplify things.
The constant pi, is also rooted in some physical measurements. The ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a compass and or straitedge constructed circle. However, I think pi was shown to be transcendental. I guess there is no way to analytically derive planck's constant, similar to the infinite series construction for pi. v/r, Don't take my ramblings too serious. (Just trying to move away from having a student's mentality and ponder individual topics not assigned by instructors anymore.)
Yes that does help. I did suspect that I would have to explicitly define the gaussian pdf in functional notation using the Statistics package. thanks v/r,

Thanks, I previously stumbled on the stats / normald references after drudging my way through the Maple help jungle. Your information is helpful however. Now, what is the difference between the Statistics package and the stats package with all of its subpackages ? v/r,

Thanks for replying and clarifying. One more question. Is MatLab required before you can install the Matlab tool for Maple ? I also started on your paper on simplification. You were not kidding about it's complexity. (No pun intended) I have little to no experience with Kolmogorov complexity. thanks for the reading however. v/r,
Sad to say but your level of confidence, and comfortability with Maple, will depend on the time the user has spent using it. I was in your situation a while ago, and I still call myself a novice. I found a book written for Maple 6 and just plunged through the examples to get acquainted with maple essentials. there's also no avoiding reading those painful help files on whatever your trying to use in maple. Sorry about the bad news, but it does get better. just keep doodling and experimenting with maple as much as you can, in addition to using this site for help.

This site has been at many times more useful than the help files or manuals. If only maplesoft could find some way to periodically consolidate all of the useful information flowing through this site from all of these talented people. v/r,

Thanks for the information. Maybe I'll contact Maplesoft to see if they have any archive issues available. (Hopefully free of charge). :-)_
Thanks.
I'll continue trying to achieve some success with the plot builder, using the intended constants, (a, m) as slidable parameters. maybe I'm not using the correct range of the values, (i.e. at the quantum scale) to get the sort of plot that I'm expecting. Thanks for all the helpful information. Any more guidance would be welcomed. Hope I'm not offending anyone. (difficult to determine context from text alone) respectfully, dc
