  • I noticed when a later post gets more votes it gets shuffled up to the top of the chain.  However if it's a long thread and some posts get more thumbs up than others you will have an extremely out of sync or chaotic type thread.  Where an answer to the original post may refer to or even answer a later question further down the line which may confuse the reader ... err sorry, will confuse the reader.

I suggest that you don't bubble the most thumbs up answer to the top of the thread.

Some of the links from google link, link to the old mapleprimes which are now broken.

Links to images in some posts are gone as relevant in one of my earlier posts here http://www.mapleprimes.com/questions/87740-Different-Size-Points-For-Pointplot-And-Transforming-To-3d-With-2d-Symbols

which as of a couple of days ago when the old mapleprimes was still active, all images in the post were visible.

What I like about the new primes - it has new graphics.

What I don't like - I think the new format has taken away the ease of use of the site.

Firstly, in the top level of the tree categories the user picture and ranking comes first , I don't know about you but I was taught to put the most important thing first to grab the users attention.  The way it's set up means the user is more focused on who wrote the message rather...

In the "Unread" and "All" tabs pages, information is still missing about the nature of the "Last Action": whether a comment, an update of the original post or what.

    2-4*x*BesselI(1,x)-x^2*BesselK(2,x)

The too short 2D math area width is still a problem (I have requested the solution of this problem many times along the beta period)

Edit: timing of posts is still an issue (it was also an issue during beta...

I am a bit missing orientation, but that may come, hopefully.

Where can I find my own blog posts? And in the old board it was easy to track my postings or threads ... And in some cases the blog was used as reference by others ... Is it gone?

Then: I do not want to automatically subscribe to each thread where I write a comment - is there a personal setting to switch that off again?

Writing these comment a capital letter T has a size of 2 mm in height,...

Is it possible to import the branch structure of discussions from the old MaplePrimes?  In many cases it looks like all the replies are put into a flat list.

The badges list makes for some interesting self-evaluation of my time, what I've posted, and how I've made my posts. But, I think the layout could be improved.

First, put the information in columns. The first column is the icon. Other column include my tally, the number needed to earn the badge, a description of the badge, AND an explicit indication of the badges that I've earned (or made progress towards).

It might also be nice to be able to sort this list in different ways. Alphabetically, according to whether I've earned the badge, progress towards new badges, most common badges within the community, ....

Lastly, the tab title "Badges" might be more informative if it were changed to "My Badges". It took me a little while to realize this list was reporting my tallies toward each badge. The columns will help, but this title change would make this even more clear.

Looking forward to seeing how the new MaplePrimes continues to evolve,

    Hi!

I'm trying to fit a model with 3 ODEs and 7 parameters to a dataset using GlobalSolve as shown in the code pasted below. Unfortunately, after fitting for approximately 10000s I get the error message:                 System error, , "PopErrorProc"

I tried to find out more about this error message on the internet but I only found that a system error indicates an internal Maple bug.

The following 2 sums are equal,

Back in July of 2005, one of the early Tips & Techniques articles (since updated) in the Maple Reporter was a comparison of two different approaches to fitting a circle to 3D data points. The impetus for the comparison was Carl Cowen's article on the subject. His approach was algebraic - he used the singular value decomposition to obtain a basis for the...

My wife will testify that I am horrible when it comes to keeping things organized and tidy. My colleagues who have seen my office can attest to this as well. My usual defence is that a messy environment is an indication of how busy you are (consequently how productive you are) and basic creativity. But every once in a while, usually when I hit a mental block, I launch into clean up mode to do something completely different hoping that when I’m done, my mental block will be gone. I just went through one of these moments. This time, my cleansing took me to the bottom of one of my office desk drawers to a pile of photos that I had stashed in there ten years ago. Glancing through these, four immediately jumped out and helped me flash back to some key moments in my life. Yes, my 15 minute sabbatical digging through my desk was one of the most productive quarter hours I’ve had in a long time. Here, then, are these four photos that respectively offer a compelling reason to reflect a bit on the past ...

If you're interested in scientific fonts, the 1.0 version release of the Scientific and Technical Information Exchange (STIX) fonts was announced today (May 28, 2010).

See here for its main page, or here for wikipedia's point of view.

Recently, Markiyan Hirnyk asked how to find all Hamiltonian cycles in a graph using Maple.

Here is a procedure using Ham Cycle unix tool (which is GPLed) in Windows.

First, one has to download it from the link above and put in his/her cygwin home directory, /cyg/home/Alec for me. Then start cygwin shell, extract the downloaded archive and cd to the extracted directory,
