okay and if I define:

f:=f1(y(t))*f2(x(t))

now i want only the partial derivative of f with respect to y

diff(f,y) returns 0 

diff(f,y(t)) not working

i just want to define the function once and then be able to compute the partial derivative with respect to x and y as well as the full derivative with respect to time.
