MaplePrimes Activity

I'm afraid you found some out-of-date content. It used to be that you needed to be a member in order to download applications from the Application Center. Those are the "thousands of Maple add-ons".

However, we've since dropped that restriction, and you no longer need to be a member to download that kind of content. Membership is still required  to download some "premium" content items, such as recorded webinars and some white papers. A membership also lets you submit applications to the Application Center, and it's easier to leave comments on applications if you are a member. And of course, you can use your Maplesoft membership to post to MaplePrimes.  New benefits will likely be introduced over time.

As for the Oracles, yes Maple can do those things already. But the oracles can be used by people who don't have Maple (if they have a Maplesoft membership!), plus they are accessible from anywhere, whereas you might not have Maple on every computer you are using. Sadly :-)

It should kick in shortly  - a few hours, probably.   There were a couple of internal reasons we couldn't switch it on immediately after 12.02 came out (including holiday schedules!) but it will be up and running very soon.

Upon further investigation, it actually seems to affect a subset of the videos, though sporadically.  We're working on it.

In the meantime, try pausing the video, and then clicking on play again. That seems to help.

It's both, BUT the version on the Vista page is only for use on Windows Vista. We are currently in final testing of the update installers for the other platforms. Once those are ready (soon), we will post the updates along with information about what has changed. Eithne Maplesoft
Maple 11 still includes the classic worksheet and the calculator (for Windows), as before. It also includes the command line version. There are a lot of features only available in standard, of course. In particular, if you are doing any 2D plotting, I would strongly recommend you consider using the standard interface for that. There are a lot of enhancements to 2D plotting, including rendering speed, tickmark placement control, and annotation tools, which are only available in the standard interface (either Document mode or Worksheet mode - your choice). There have been enhancements that make using document mode and the equation editor generally smoother. For example, it is now much easier to tell when you are in math entry mode and when you are in text mode, and context menus operations are now "self-documenting", so you get a written explanation of every step, instead of just an arrow. In addition to built-in materials like the Quick Help, Quick Reference Card, and "Take a Tour of Maple" guides, which are in the help system, since Maple 10 was released, we also created some training videos which you may not have seen. Many people have found them helpful in getting started with document mode. We are working on new videos for Maple 11, but if you'd like to see the Maple 10 versions, you'll find them at http://www.maplesoft.com/support/training/index.aspx Eithne Eithne Murray Maplesoft
Not to forget Schoolhouse Rock. For anyone who watched kids tv in the '70s (in north america anyway), you may remember such classic songs as "My Hero, Zero", or "Little Twelvetoes", a song about aliens who work naturally in base 12. Here's a link with the lyrics. Looks like the sound clips are missing, unfortunately. Multiplication Rock. eithne
Just a small note of caution. In general, it's not a good idea to actually use an undocumented function directly. If it's not documented, we may just change its behaviour substantially from relase to release, or even remove it completely, for internal use reasons, and your code will then break. Though I suppose they aren't quite "undocumented functions" if there is a help page about them. More like "mostly undocumented functions". :-)
