I searched for "function" not "procedure"; you're acting autistic.

> what does the 100 source code pages of functionality from Maple mean?

It means I would have had to write no more than 100 pages of C++ to make a CAS that does what I want from a CAS. Instead I wasted time trying to work around Maxima, Axiom, Sympy, ******atica, and Maple's 's flaws.

I need far less functinality than that provided Maxima. But Maxima is unusable as it does scoping stupidly:

(%i1) lambda([f], lambda([x], [f, x]))(g)(y);

(%o1) [f, y]

(%i2)

Not writing a thesis. I majored in A.I. and engineering at Stanford, read Euler, Gauss, Hilbert, Church, Turing, Post, Godel, and Kleene; discovered something; tried to write it up but bad CAS's wasted my time and this cancer won't wait for me to write the 100 pages of C++ I need.

not something i would have done with alonzo church open on my desk

I meant the latter. After unproductively searching the Maple docs I Googled "maple anonymous function", tried the first thing I saw, ended up killing not only Maple but also the Cygwin that was running Maple and everything else running in Cygwin at the time.

I need only about 100 source-code pages of functionality from Maple. I've needed it since March 2017 but since then my life has been battling the documentation in various CAS programs both commercial and open source.

If I had started developing my own CAS program to do what I need from CAS, I would have finished it along with all I wanted to do in 2018; Instead I relied on Maple and the rest, killed the last year and a half of my life, ran out of time to write up the discovery I made in early 2017. See you all in hell.

Thank you.

"... better mouse?"

My mouse (Razer Taipan) causes no similar problem in other programs.

The endless suggestions about user-error and "problems with my system" is why community forums are an awful substitute for good docs. I don't want to be here typing about how fine my mouse works in other programs; that's as fun as chinese water torture for me. I don't need new mouse, I need to avoid using Maple.

I'm going back to Emacs, Gnu C++, Octave, and Python. I needed symbolic computation; Sage and Sympy are inadequate, Maple and the other commercial one come with user interfaces that aggravate me so much, it's not worth the symbolics. Your polynomial factoring can be the best, but I had to click a triangle four times before it would open the section and show me the docs I was looking for. That is torture to an experienced programmer. I'll downsize my project goals, so I can do it all from Emacs without touching a mouse.
